最初アニメ制作の予定では、78話完結でした。
「東の海神西の滄海」の次は「図南の翼」、「黄昏の岸黎明の天」と続く予定でした。
原作の完成の後、すぐにでもアニメ化を考えていただきたい。
これだけの、舞台背景ができあがっているのにもったいないではありませんか。
外国の方達からも続きが見たいとの声が寄せられています。

I would like to say that I really enjoyed watching the Twelve Kingdom anime series and I would sincerely like for it to be continued. It has the potential to become an even greater series since there were many story lines left unfinished, which can be continued. Juuni Kokuki anime and novel is 1 of my fave in my lifetime, i'm not kidding, i'm inspire by the characters, especially Youko (The Red Child/Empress of Kei) and Rakushun (the hanju scholar with a wise virtue) gave us a chance to see them in the anime again.. :)

"The Twelve Kingdoms" is one of the most beautiful stories I have ever seen or read. It explores some of the most important moral issues of mankind, and the unique and authentic stories of the 3 girls got the most powerful lessons on becomming a responsible grownup there have ever been written. Especially the character of Rakushun has deeply touched my heart, because I feel that his qualites enabled him to do the most wonderful thing you can do, inspire those who became resentful because of the suffering they had to bear to believe in something again, and to become responsible in natural way. This story is able to convey some of the most important life lessons to kids that they wouldn't understand by hundres of hours of preaching from their parents. This Anime certainly goes beyond mere entertainment and in my opinion really deserves a continuation.
