最初アニメ制作の予定では、78話完結でした。
「東の海神西の滄海」の次は「図南の翼」、「黄昏の岸黎明の天」と続く予定でした。
原作の完成の後、すぐにでもアニメ化を考えていただきたい。
これだけの、舞台背景ができあがっているのにもったいないではありませんか。
外国の方達からも続きが見たいとの声が寄せられています。

I would very much like to see this anime completed. It's defintely one of my favorites.

Just FYI - production didn't stop because of lack of funding. It stopped because it wasn't finished. This anime is based off a novel series, not a manga. The writer (Fuyumi Ono) fell sick and the anime caught up with the novels much faster than anticipated. So they took a break. Fuyumi-sama has written much more since the abrupt ending of the anime. You can buy the books on Amazon in Japanese or English (Japanese name is Junikokuki Tsuki no Kage Kage no Tsuki). Fukumi-sama released her latest book last year, so who knows...maybe they will pick it back up.
