This is a very entertaining series. unfortunately there were too many references to other stories as well as opened subjects without a conclusion. i.e. the Taiki Saga was implied but not concluded.
Regarding a sequel, in the form of a limited series about one story/chapter. In the very least I would like to see some closure on some issues/subjects the were refferenced over the course of the first 45 episodes.
If possible, perhaps the Empress of Kei could visit her Hourai parents after the Kindom of Kei has stablized to some extent. Some closure would be nice, because it is a regret of Youko's.

Its a great story about social isses & ethics, an excellent example for young minds.
For us elderly folks, its just a wonderful & beautiful saga.
I wish to see some closure before I go to the grave.
This is one of my most endeared anime's
