最初アニメ制作の予定では、78話完結でした。
「東の海神西の滄海」の次は「図南の翼」、「黄昏の岸黎明の天」と続く予定でした。
原作の完成の後、すぐにでもアニメ化を考えていただきたい。
これだけの、舞台背景ができあがっているのにもったいないではありませんか。
外国の方達からも続きが見たいとの声が寄せられています。

At least end Taiki's story, please, because there's a sudden cut in the anime. Moreover, I watched the whole series years after I saw a chapter about Taiki's story because I couldn't watch the whole chapter and I wanted to find out what a black Kirin was. When I realised that his story was incomplete, I searched to find a translation of the novels. Finally, I found that, although Taiki's part continues in the novels, it is also unfinished. It is impossible to know the future of the kingdom of Tai because the writer hasn't decided it yet. So I would like to see a real ending to that story, but I understand that it isn't possible right now and at least I would like it to be as complete as possible... Please.

I watched this series many years ago when I was a teenager. The character development of Youko and the stories of the people around her left a profound impact on me. The twelve kingdoms is also one of the most fascinating worlds I had the luck to discover. I really hope someone out there will continue to animate the rest of the novels. I would also wish that English translations for all the novels to be released.
