The USA immigration department has sent out a reminder to Japanese nationals stranded in the country that they have a range of options allowing for them to remain in America indefinitely.
A statement released yesterday by US Citizenship and Immigration Services (USCIS) listed all the options available to Japanese nationals in America.
“USCIS understands that a natural disaster can affect an individual’s ability to establish or maintain lawful immigration status,” the statement read.
The concessions available include:
* Extensions of temporary USA visas, even if the visa has expired; * Fast-tracked visa applications for relatives of US residents; * Fast-tracked applications for off-campus employment by F1 student visa holders; * Fast-tracked applications for other employment visas; * Assistance for anyone stranded in Japan and missing their US immigration documents.
Those affected are encouraged to contact USCIS as soon as possible.
