Was die beiden klassisch geschulten und mit der Rockmusik der 70er Jahre aufgewachsenen Virtuosen auf ihrem dritten Album "Xianshi" präsentieren, ist von wahnsinniger Geschwindigkeit, großer Genauigkeit und Detailverliebtheit. Bereits seit 1980 arbeitet das Duo miteinander, 2001 veröffentlichten sie "Blood & Instinct", 2003 folgte "Adachi Kyodai", ihre Einflüsse John McLaughlin (der akustische sowie der elektrische), Jethro Tull, King Crimson und The Who sind nicht direkt zu erkennen, aber die Intention und Leidenschaft, die Virtuosität und Musikalität sind gleich.
Der über 8 Minuten lange und viel zu kurz gefühlte Opener "Sister Crime" zeigt die Möglichkeiten des extrem schnellen Spiels auf den akustischen Saiten nicht gleich zu Beginn. Doch bald beginnt die Harmonie des Stückes sich zu überschlagen. Daraus folgt eine Harmonie höherer Wirkung, was da exakt und akkurat explodiert, ist von einer Schönheit und komplexen Musiksprache, die nur fasziniert. Doch längst geben die Brüder Adachi Kyodai hier keine Lektion der Möglichkeiten in schnellem Spiel. Sie wissen auch mit "Slow Poison" zu überzeugen. Das Spiel ist farbenfroh, lyrisch und witzig. Jeder der 11 Tracks wirkt äußerst belebt und heiter, dennoch von einer gewissen Gelassenheit und intensiven Ruhe (trotz aller höllischen Schnelligkeit). Sie mögen schnell werden, aber nie bekommt man das Gefühl der Unruhe, der Hektik. Und dennoch ist es nicht die Perfektion, die so ungemein überzeugt. Sondern die Lebendigkeit und Klangschönheit der Motive, die sie anmutig und virtuos spielen. Akustikgitarren sind langweilig? Dann hört euch nur "Chance Meeting" (von Bryan Ferry) oder "Wond'ring Aloud" von Jethro Tull an, oder den Höhepunkt der CD neben dem Opener, "Magpie A Gigue", da merkt man plötzlich, dass leidenschaftliche, gute Musik im Kleinsten funktionieren kann.
Unbedingte Empfehlung für ein grandioses und wahrhaft progressives Werk.

meaning of xian shi

Our new release xian shi is a Chinese word which means:Pebble,held in a bird beak. I found this word in a novel (written by Mr. Chin shunn shin-a
Chinese author),which means.....

In Chinese myth, a daughter of Endi, a God of Fire and Luxuriance was drawned, in the eastern sea .
In her next life, she was born as a bird, but couldn't forget the spite against the sea.
So,she took pebble holding in her beak,to drop in the sea to bury the water.

From that story,the word xian-shi turns to be a meaning of endless efforts to be seen as nothing.
But I felt something similar to our brother's making music. Because since we were small, we were extremely clumsy comparing to the other kids,and quite useless to the society too,....and we may still be the same, if we do not play music. So I named our work xian-shi.

How about European tour ?

We can find many progressive rock concerts
in Germany, Netherlands and and Belgium.
I met Terry Bozzio and talked with him the last Nov.
Because he held gig in the following museum.

I am very excited about your 2nd CD being released and I look forward to

our

You two are outstanding musicians. I have a regular job as a programmer
during the day. I build the ProGGnosis database and website out of my love
of progressive rock and fusion music. I have arranged for friends to
participate in writing reviews in exchange for the change to receive
promotional CDs from artists and labels. I personnally pay for the
ProGGnosis web site to be hosted and I am able to earn about 70% of the
hosting costs back with banner ads and google ads.

I would love very much to have you come to America to play. I would be
among the first to buy a ticket for such an exciting event. You understand
that I am not in any position to make this invitation to you. I live in
Minnesota and it is unlikely that even if you came to the USA you would
travel to this part of my country.

Someday perhaps, ProGGnosis will grow enough and be able to earn money.
Then I will try to use the ProGGnosis name to arrange concerts or festivals
or even perhaps to become a ProGGnosis CD label. I am now busy with 2
children at home and a full time job. So for now I can only try very hard
to make a professional and useful web site that people come to use and earn
their respect and trust. We are fortunate too to have two friends in Japan
so that the great music of yourself and your countrymen can be seen by a
non-Japanese audience. I believe ProGGnosis has the largest listing of
Japanese progressive rock and fusion music of any web site that is not
Japanese.
